We tasted over 80 wines at the 2024 Willamette Valley Wine Auction and brought back two lots of amazing Pinot Noir to share…

Willamette Valley Barrel Tasting 2024

Barrel tasting at the 2024 Willamette Valley Wine Auction was held against the breathtaking backdrop of the Abby Road Farm in Carlton Oregon. It’s humbling to be greeted by over 80 winemakers, each pouring a select wine specially crafted to highlight the 2022 vintage and all it has to offer. Beautiful fruit, land-loving farming, and masterful wine-making artistry come together to bring life to every sip. It really is a great honor to be in attendance.

One sip of a wine lovingly crafted from grapes grown with sustainable practices and it’s apparent that the drink has vibrancy that traditional methods just cannot produce. Willamette Valley is a community dedicated to this, with over 48% of vineyard land certified sustainably farmed. With each taste we grew more and more excited to secure a lot (or as you will read later two!) to share with our Cellar & Scholar wine community. We are delighted to announce the Lachini Vineyards 2022 “goo, goo, g’joob” Pinot Noir; and Broadley Vineyards 2022 “Le Fin Du Fin” Pinot Noir.

Lachini Vineyards was established in the late 1990’s, is certified bio-dynamic, and sits at the southeastern edge of the Chehalem Mountains AVA known for it’s elevation and mix of volcanic, marine and windblown sedimentary soils. Proprietors Ron & Marianne Lachini have long had a passion for Pinot Noir; and they have assembled the perfect team to create the “goo, goo, g’joob”- the ultimate –  Willamette Valley Pinot Noir with a not to the famous John Lennon lyrics. Winemaker, and Burgundy native, Florent-Pierre Merlier works with vineyard manager, and Willamette Valley, native Ernesto Mendoza to bring the regions best.

Broadley Vineyards was founded in 1981, by Craig and Claudia Broadley. The sustainably farmed Broadley Vineyards are planted in red volcanic Jory/Hazelair clay soil and dry-farmed, creating concentrated berries for premium Pinot Noir. The first winery in Willamette Valley to hold a 97 point score from Wine Spectator (1994); the continue to make benchmark Pinot Noir and “Le Fin Du Fin” is no exception.
